the La Roche region

La Roche-en-Ardenne (in Walloon: Li Rotche) is a small town of 4,000 inhabitants in the Province of Luxembourg in Belgium and has developed in the meanders of the Ourthe river.
The place is dominated by the ruins of an old medieval castle. In these ruins, several events are organised throughout the year. In July and August, the ghost of Berthe appears on the ruins and every year, on the 20th of July, there is a big firework display with a laser show that attracts hundreds of spectators.
In winter there is the carnival, which is a real tradition to be recommended!
In La Roche there is also a game park, a playground, museums, a pottery workshop, the museum of smoked meat, the museum of the Second World War and the museum of the Moulin de la Petite Strument.

With its plateaus at an altitude of more than 500 metres, the authentic Ardennes receives snow from the sky during the coldest winters. The white gold makes skiers happy, whether they are skiing on the cross-country tracks, the downhill tracks or sledging.
To name just a few of the well-known slopes in the surrounding area:
- Baraque de Fraiture (Vielsalm): Cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowboarding (lit run), sledging - Alt. 630m
- Samrée (La Roche): Nordic ski centre - Alt. 600m
- Vecmont (La Roche): Cross-country skiing, sledging - Alt. 400m
- Saint-Hubert (Hurtebise): Cross-country skiing, sledging - Alt. 540m

And still other tracks located a little further away ...
